Who is
Alicia Fox?
Alicia Fox is an artist, designer, poet, and teacher.
She received her BFA in finearts from Parson's School of Design (1991) and MFA in Painting & Printmaking from Yale University (1997). Since that time she has been living in Brooklyn, NY working side-by-side with her husband and sometimes collaborator Stephen Fox. She received a Richard Kelly Grant from the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) for her work with light. She has shown her work in NYC, Chicago, Dallas, Paris, & Munich. She has also published a book of paintings and poetry entitle Missives with Codhill Press in 2009 and her second book entitled The Obscure Substance of Sky was published in December 2022. While continuing her exploration in painting and writing, she worked for many years as a graphic designer with Alan Barnett of Alan Barnett Design —a boutique design studio in the heart of Chelsea, NYC. During this time, she developed her skills in print and book design. She also worked for her own clients—publishers and design studios, both large and small, (Hearst, Rodale, McGraw-Hill, Condé Nast, Oxford University Press, Vertigo Design, Codhill Press). She currently teaches Drawing at the School of Visual Arts since 2018 at the request of Richard Wilde.
